Diabetes is the leading cause of preventable sight loss in adults, so don't lose sight of your screening appointment.
Free diabetic eye screening for people with diabetes aged 12 years and older.
If you have diabetes, you will be sent a letter with the date, time and location for a diabetic eye screening appointment.
This appointment is not the same as your regular sight test with an optician, which you should still arrange and attend.
The examination includes eye drops to dilate your pupils and then digital photographs will be taken of the back of your eyes (the retina). These photographs are then reviewed by accredited specialists.
Don't worry we have you covered, we are now offering some evening and weekend appointments so you can fit your eye screening in around your working day.
Appointments can be booked at any venue around our programme area, not just the venues closest to your home. Just ask if you'd like to find out more.
